Christian Nurture Team News for February 2012

Faith Rodriguez was given her Bible on 1-8-2012.  All of our Sunday school are going well but continue to have room for more to attend.  Please consider joining one of them!!

We will use a new vendor, the Go Fish Guys, and the theme  for VBS 2012 will be “Backstage with the Bible.” This group of three dads have been producing VBS curriculum for just three years but the programs appear to be well done, include the use of Bibles by the children every day, and have some great music and videos. 

Our Secret Santa went well and CNT will plan to do this activity again next year.  Date will be set at a later meeting.  We will work to provide some more “sophisticated” crafts for older children.

CNT has received a $2,000 donation from the Mr. Dunbar; this will be used toward the cost of replacing the very old, very worn, very stained carpet in the upstairs Sunday school wing.  We very much want to accomplish this project and have a very good estimate from Professional Interiors for the total of $6669.83 (old removed and new installed).  We are seeking help from other church ministry groups as well as general donations from members of our congregation.  This is a special price for carpet squares like the ones in the fellowship hall but one shade lighter and which will no longer be for sale after the current lot is gone.  By doing the project all at once and using this particular carpet the savings is just over $1500!!!

 A teacher training/information meeting is being planned forFebruary 5, 2012.  This will be a way to make sure we are “all on the same page” and to share information with each other.

 Pastor Tom informed the group that he will likely be holding a class for conframands after Easter.

 CNT tentatively selected dates for the following events in 2012

• May 20, 2012 Graduation Sunday
• June 19, 2012,6:00 pm:  Combined Teacher training, materials distribution, and VBS AND Safe Child training, a light supper will be held and child care will be arranged, if needed.
• June 24, 2012Montreat Sunday
• July 14, 2012, Decorate for VBS,9:00 am
• July 15, 2012, Commission VBS Teachers
• July 15 throughJuly 19, 2012VBS,6:00 to 8:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday evenings.
• July 19, 2012, VBS Program at8 pm
• September 9, 2012Bibles distributed to 4^th graders and commission all Sunday School teachers
